At Rainier Fruit we celebrate learning in all forms. Education grows our minds, expands our world and helps us dream.

John F. Kennedy once said, “children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.”

And how true that is. We work closely in our own community, as well as in the communities where we do business to help foster the ideals of education and lifelong learning because we also believe children are our future.

Children are the next generation of farmers, doctors, teachers, computer programmers, authors, chefs, artists and more. That’s why we love opportunities to support education programs whenever we get a chance, and the past couple of weeks have provided a few great opportunities.

The first was a fundraising event for the Milwaukee Public Library with our retail partner Roundy’s. The Milwaukee Public Library system supports 15 community librarys and serves nearly 500,000 visitors each year. Their programming offers more than just books. Programs for every age group offer activities like game nights, daily homework help, storytime, computer access, job search assistance and more. Many of us take for granted the accessibility of wi-fi for our kids to access online resources to do homework, or the importance of early reading programs in educational development. Together with the help of Roundy’s and other community partners we helped raise over $500,000 to support these very important programs.

If your kids are like our kids – they love field trips. Well, it just so happens that we provide field trips to many of our retail partners for them to visit our farming and packing operations and see first hand what we do. One of those customers, Bruce from Loblaws Saint John Superstore in New Brunswick Canada visited us a couple years ago and apparently we made a lasting impression. He realized he couldn’t bring all the kids to us, so he did the next best thing he could think of and brought kids to his store to help them learn all about apples. Bruce shared his passion for apples and all he had learned with these young kids who were so excited to learn about how apples are grown, different apple varieties and how they taste, along with the importance of healthy snacking. And of course, every field trip should have some pictures, fun games and gifts. Thanks Bruce for being a passionate advocate for apples and educating kids! That’s #WholesomeToTheCore
