Despite the short daylight hours and plummeting temperatures, it’s hard not to love this time of year. The season is filled with family and friends and plenty of opportunities to eat and drink like it’s going out of style. Everyone brings their “A” game to holiday festivities, and it’s always exciting to see what shows up on the table or at the bar.

In keeping with this spirit of opulent entertaining, we tapped the creative mind of one of our dear friends, the exceptionally talented Natalie of Beautiful Booze, for some innovative cocktail ideas that feature our new crop of apples and pears. In this installment, we share the first of three original recipes for the holidays: the Roasted Apple Moscow Mule.

This variation of the Moscow Mule substitutes lemon for the lime and adds the warmth and intensity of roasted Pink Lady® apples to the mix. The dense texture and tangy-tartness of the Pink Lady® makes it a perfect candidate for roasting. It’s tempting to skip this step, but it is absolutely necessary for the deep, complex flavor that transforms this drink to a cold weather libation. It’s as easy to roast one apple as it is several, so don’t hesitate to increase the quantity for a group event. Finally, the cinnamon sugar-garnished rim is the perfect crowning complement to this holiday cocktail.

From our family to yours, cheers!
