April 9-15 marks National Library Week. In the advent of the internet and online readers many people have maybe never been in a library, or it’s possibly been years since you’ve scanned your library card. However, it’s just as important today as ever to remember that books and libraries offer a fundamental start to our learning and education.
In fact, this past fall we helped our retail partner Roundy’s of Milwaukee raise over $500,000 to support their local library programs. You can read more about it here.
From pre-school story time, after school programs, teen programming, internet access and sometimes continuing education, libraries are evolving with the times. Did you know that many libraries also offer access to digital books you can download to your e-reader?
When we talk about our mission to be Wholesome to the Core it’s not just about growing apples, it’s about all we do. It’s about how we live, how we work, how we eat, how we play and how we learn. That’s why we support educational programming and why we champion various employees and role models who foster healthy environments to learn. So today we’re proud to salute librarians and library support staff.
In fact, in honor of National Library Week we’ve picked 10 kids’ books that feature apples and wholesome to the core stories.
Books and the stories they tell are the some of the first places we learn the basics of our education and understanding. We learn our numbers and colors, and the basic words that become the foundation of our vocabulary. But we also learn about good versus evil, heroes and villains and those stories teach us creativity and plant a moral compass for our future ahead.
Celebrate the teachers around you that share information because they are the heroes. They are Wholesome to the Core.
